The bi-annual (Japanese) Garage Kits lovers heavenly event, Wonder Festival 2006 [Winter] organized by toy company Kaiyodo was successfully carried out this 19th February 2006.

I won't elaborate on the event as I don't even have the opportunity to be there (T_T), but what we're most concerned about here are all the Shirow-related coolness that was offered/displayed. I've scoured the net, and here's a pictorial compilation that I have found so far. Far from being complete, as I haven't really worked very hard tracking down every WF06 gallery out there and the fact that there are a lot of Kit Makers that specifically prohibit their stuff from being photographed. So this is by no means a complete listing of all Shirow-related kits that were showcased during the day. Anyway, hope that this tingles your senses as much as mine :)

The 2005 All Japan Plamodel Radicon Show, or better known simply as Tokyo Hobby Show 2005 took place on 23rd to 24th September 2005. This event primarily showcases new & upcoming Plastic Models (Plamodel) and Radio Controlled Toys (Radicon). Normally there's nothing for Shirow fans but this year, there's one product to highlight- WAVE's excellent 1/24 scale Tachikoma! Not much information is available about the Tachikoma at this event, except for this exclusive Science Fiction report by online Toy Seller Hobby Link Japan (HLJ).

Disclaimer: I did not attend the WonFest event this year (in fact I haven't attended any previous WonFest before) so this post is solely based on what has been made available online. So I take no credit for the pics :)
There are normally 2 Wonder Festival (or WonFest in short) events anually in Japan and having covered Winter 05, now its Summer's turn. Wonder Festival is an event organised by Kaiyodo Japan (Here's the Official Website) for toy makers to showcase their current and upcoming product line-ups to the masses of fans. But the main attraction of the WonFest has got to be the Garage Kit makers- independent individuals or groups- selling their wares in this rare opportunity. I'm not entirely sure how it works but I think permission is granted for sale of these kits to the participants during this short event. Some kit makers are so popular that their models were picked up by Official makers for mass productions.

This year's Wonder Festival 2005 Summer was held at the traditional venue Tokyo Big Sight on 21st August 2005. Well, this being a Shirow homepage, I will only showcase Shirow-related kits (mostly Ghost In The Shell though) that I've come across. So here's the belated MSHP Wonfest 2005 Summer Compilation: :)
This section, MSHP Specials collects posts about events, exhibitions, conventions, screenings, press conferences, interviews, fan gatherings... well, basically any Shirow-related events. Due to (1) I'm not in Japan (2) Shirow is not really well-known in my country, most of the time I have to rely on the internet and 3rd party reports for my compilation posts.
Anyway, I do hope that fellow fans would contribute and help me out here. If you feel something is worth a post, write me about it. Thanks first and I hope this section would be an interesting and useful resource for Shirow fans, especially us English-speaking ones ;)

I'm still unsure what exactly is newakiba.com, but from the looks of it, seems to me like a Japanese toys and figures news page. Recently they updated with WonFest 05 news, and as we know from my previous posts, WonFests are full of delightful Shirow surprises. Please visit the New Akiba website and check out their Wonder Festival 2005 report! Not only Shirow, but lots of other figures and kits that will tingle your senses! In case they don't intend to archive this report, the MSHP will archive them for you (and myself ^_^)- Shirow only of course, for your convenience~

Before we start, I like this one! From ALUCARD, SAC 2nd Gig Motoko Kusanagi! ^_^ So cool!

The just recently over annual Wonder Festival (Winter) event in Japan (I think it was on 20th February 05, organised by toy company Kaiyodo) showcased some of the latest Shirow-related garage kits, figure and toys. Here are some of the interesting items exhibited / sold at the event.
The following also serves to clarify the Motoko in CG (Cool Girl) 12" doll posted not long ago. Actually the picture I posted turns out to be the original HJ version, and the Ninja suit version is as shown in the pic below. Looks good either way, I think! ^_^

This one is from Yamamotoya.net, finally some pictures of the finished, painted version of the 27cm Appleseed Landmate (Deunan movie version) Garage Kit. It is selling for 24990 Yen if I'm not mistaken. Look for more pictures in their recent update.

Worth mentioning also is that Garage Kit makers SSC put out their excellent Multi-Legged Gun Platform and some other new Shirow kits on display and sale at the event too. Certainly this year's WonFest seems to be quite a Shirow Fan paradise ![]()
Again, credit where due to sTwo's Shirowledge for the lead on this ~ Lucas

I missed a good one! This is an excellent GITS SAC garage kit set featured in WonFest 05- Motoko (Ninja Suit), Operator Girl, and Tachikoma. O_o at that "fit" Major Kusanagi... Goodness me. 5 Stars. Akros my friend, where did you get these Wonder-ful pics??? ^_^ No idea who is the kit maker though... I think I've tracked the maker of this kit, the famous Masaki Mizuhara [Over Dard], correct?...

With the WonFest05 over for some days, more Motoko Kusanagi eye-fest! ^_^ Different views of the Over Dard Motoko & Operator. If you can recall, there's also a SAC 1 Motoko kit previously done by Mizuhara-san, also with the same... errr.... features ^_~, displayed here in the 3rd picture to refresh our memories (this one was quite some time ago, and not part of the WonFest 05 displays). By the way, anyone knows Over Dard or Mizuhara-san's website? Can't locate for credits...
The last picture is another SAC 1 Motoko kit by Y&S Club [Y&S工房]. The Y&S kit looks amazing too! (o_o)++ Honestly speaking, I'm quite glad there's an ocean between me and Tokyo Big Sight where the WonFest was held. Otherwise, I won't be eating for a whole year! ~_~ Expensive hobby this one!!
