Very very good! :) If you thought the preview booklet was something, the actual book itself is an absolute masterpiece. Stunning graphics from Shirow Sensei and I think this time, he finally nailed the CG illustration game- the girls are well done, some monsters in the mix, and lots of little SD critters which I have not seen from Shirow for quite some time. I think he must be enjoying himself very much creating these artworks!

And the best touch is the fact that each piece is based around a folklore / mythology theme, with an accompanying essay and commentary. So its not just maximum mind-numbing sexy this time, but there's actually a story behind each picture. Magnificent! 6 stars out of 5!

    I am so totally lusting after this book I can't wait for 10AM to roll around today so I can go pick up my copy XD

    More details though! How many pages? Whats the size of the book details details! And if you can't provide them in the next 3 hours I shall be THOROUGHLY dissapointed *cackles and winks* ;)

    Its 64 pages, and 24cm x 33cm... almost B4 size. Something like the Introns. You'd seriously enjoy it! :D

    Thanks for the mini review! Hey, you never posted your thoughts on Pieces 1. Is it worth getting? I already have the Intron Depot books, plus most of the GalGrease and calendar thingys. Curious how much new content was in that one...

    Hi Jake, apologies re: Pieces! Was meant to do a review but delayed it for too long! :P Pieces 1 is a definite get! A lot of repeat pictures but the presentation and quality of print is first class. I'd say, more classy than the Introns! Go for it, seems like you have quite a collection going on there.

    I received it from J-list. I like it a lot, it is quite large, same size as Intron Depot books, has 64 full color pages. Some new and old stuff but great! I wish I could read the stories there but the images will do for now :)

    Just got the book, and I am so happy about it, the newest Illustration book of Shirow Sensei…QQ(sob, sob..)

    The only thing I want complain about the book is pages is less than I thought. About performance of illustration works, I have to agree with Lucas~「It’s an absolute Masterpiece」!

    Anyway, so glad that I can get this book before end of 2009~ ^_^

    and hope we can see the next issue of 「Intron Depot」 and 「Galgrease」 illustration book soon in future too!

    Got both this and Pieces from Amazon despite extreme shipping costs. It's nice, but... not very interesting. Beautiful illustrations, sure, but I'd still prefer that he was drawing comics... inked comics.
    Also a pity that it's not translated, and probably won't ever be. The text and comments would be interesting to read.
    Pieces was kind of a disappointment, small size and the same old calendar illos. But there were still some uncollected Dominion illos, even some I hadn't seen before.

    Maybe I just don't care very much for Shirow any more... He hasn't really produced anything worthwhile since 1995(conflict one), after all.
