I like Appleseed best because it is a taste of the old Shirow. Well designed plot based on his research and thoughts of a future world. After the Kobe earthquake in 1996 his work went for the worse. A lot of CGI and a lot less story. Shirow himself blames it on the loss of his home and his library. So let us hope that after four years he is up to something really good. Can't wait for GitS 2 !!!
Fact check: The Great Hanshin Earthquake of Kobe occured on January 17th 1995 actually, not 1996...... ^_^ ~ Lucas

Wow! Its great to see a UK based website (i assume its UK by the .co.uk) devoted to Masumune Shirow. The first piece of work related to Shirow I encountered was the Dominion Tank Police anime which started my interest in anime. Then it was Black Magic in the Manga Mania magazine before hearing about some film named Ghost in the Shell. I watched it and I've been hooked since. I've always had a keen interest in robots, AI and cyborgs and loved Blade Runner, Terminator etc. and GITS fitted the mould.
According to Lucas I fall between an 'all-rounder' and a GITS fanatic :)
My GITS/MMI Solid Box set just arrived and its awesome :)
