Arcade Prize- Masamune Shirow's Artistic Poster Genealogy

APG Collage

In Gamest Magazines (a Japanese Arcade Gaming mag) are adverts for Shirow 'arcade prize' posters, available as of March 99. For those who are unfamiliar, arcade prizes are merchandise (can be dolls, keychains, cards etc.) that you get when you 'win' on the prize machine. There are 10 different posters, according to the ad, including one 'special' poster. These posters can only be obtained by winning at arcades (they are not consumer products, rather sold in bulk to arcade operators).

Shirow made a 'special mark' with his marker on a limited 100 pieces of posters. Guess that counts as an autograph! No previously unpublished pictures though, mostly images taken from Intron Depot 1 and Intron Depot 2 (some have different backgrounds). The posters look pretty good and as with all arcade prizes, it is likely that this will only be available for a short period of time. Commissioned by Shinseisha, publisher of various Japanese gaming goods.

At the moment the only way I know of getting them is by going to arcades in Japan and blowing your money with no guarantee of winning anything...
